Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 125

'Ali ibn Hakim al-Awdi related to us: Sharik related to us, from Abu 'Umar, from Abu Juhaifah, who said: A man complained to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about his neighbour. He said: ‘Carry your belongings and put them in the road; whoever passes by will curse him.’ Everyone who passed by began cursing him. The neighbour came to the Prophet and said: ‘What have I encountered from the people?’ He replied: ‘Allah's curse is greater than their curse.’ Then he said to the man who had complained: ‘You have been spared [his harm]’—or words to that effect.

The source itself reports the Prophet's closing words approximately, using ‘or something like it’; the bracketed object is supplied from context.
Should the ending remain this concise, or should the object of ‘spared’ be omitted to preserve the Arabic ellipsis?
