Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 912

Isma‘il related to us, saying: Ibn Abi al-Zinad related to me, from ‘Alqama, from his mother, from ‘A’isha, that when children were born, they would be brought to her and she would pray for blessing for them. A child was brought to her, and she went to place his pillow; there was a razor beneath his head. She asked them about it, and they said: “We put it there for protection from the jinn.” She took the razor and threw it away, forbade them from doing that, and said: “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, disliked and detested superstitious omens.” ‘A’isha used to forbid them.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The phrase نَجْعَلُهَا مِنَ الْجِنِّ is elliptical; rendered as placing the razor there for protection from jinn.
