Muhammad ibn Yusuf narrated to us. He said: Isra'il narrated to us. He said: Simak narrated to us, from Mus'ab ibn Sa'd, from his father, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, who said: Four verses from the Book of Allah, Exalted, were revealed concerning me. My mother had sworn that she would neither eat nor drink until I left Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: “If they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, but keep their company in this world with kindness.” The second was that I had taken a sword that I admired, and I said: “Messenger of Allah, give me this.” Then was revealed: “They ask you about the spoils.” The third was that I fell ill and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came to me. I said: “Messenger of Allah, I want to divide my property; may I bequeath half of it?” He said: “No.” I said: “A third?” He remained silent, and thereafter a third was permitted. The fourth was that I drank wine with a group of the Ansar, and one of them struck my nose with a camel's jawbone. I went to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed the prohibition of wine.
