Musaddad related to us: Yazid ibn Zuray‘ related to us: ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq related to us: Sa‘id ibn Abi Sa‘id al-Maqburi related to me, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace: ‘Five practices belong to the fitrah: circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, clipping the nails, plucking the underarm hair, and trimming the moustache.’

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The Arabic in this block reads نتف الضبع; the English witness interprets this as plucking the armpit hair, which is the conventional list item but differs from the literal word in this source.

  • وَنَتْفُ الضَّبْعِ،

The Arabic reads الضبع rather than the expected الإبط; the witness supplies the conventional “armpit” sense.

Is الضبع a textual variant or corruption for الإبط in this report?
