Abu Hurayra reported: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and asked: “Messenger of Allah, which charity has the greatest reward?” He replied: “By your father, you shall be told: that you give charity while you are healthy and tight-fisted, fearing poverty and hoping for wealth. Do not delay until, when your soul reaches your throat, you say: ‘This much is for so-and-so, and this much for so-and-so,’ when it already belongs to so-and-so.”
