Abu Qilaba reported that Abu ‘Abdullah asked Abu Mas‘ud—or Abu Mas‘ud asked Abu ‘Abdullah: “What did you hear the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say about ‘za‘ama’ (‘he claims’/‘it is alleged’)?” He replied: “It is a bad mount for a man.”
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic preserves uncertainty over which of the two men asked the question.
