‘Abdullah ibn Salih related to us, saying: al-Layth related to me, saying: ‘Uqayl related to me, from Ibn Shihab, who said: ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Ka‘b ibn Malik informed me that ‘Abdullah ibn Ka‘b—who led Ka‘b, one of his sons, after he became blind—said: I heard Ka‘b ibn Malik relate his account of staying behind from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on the Tabuk expedition, and how Allah accepted his repentance. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, announced that Allah had accepted our repentance after he had prayed the dawn prayer. People came to me group by group, congratulating me on the acceptance of my repentance and saying: “May Allah’s acceptance of your repentance bring you joy!” I entered the mosque and found the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with people around him. Talha ibn ‘Ubaydullah stood and hurried toward me, shook my hand, and congratulated me. By Allah, no man among the Emigrants stood up for me except him. I will never forget that of Talha.

The Arabic says no other man among the Emigrants stood up for him besides Talha; the witness appears to reverse this by saying another man did.
Should the English be corrected to preserve the negation and single person?
