حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ‏:‏ عَطَسَ رَجُلاَنِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَشَمَّتَ أَحَدَهُمَا، وَلَمْ يُشَمِّتِ الْآخَرَ، فَقَالَ‏:‏ شَمَّتَّ هَذَا وَلَمْ تُشَمِّتْنِي‏؟‏ قَالَ‏:‏ إِنَّ هَذَا حَمِدَ اللَّهَ، وَلَمْ تَحْمَدْهُ‏.‏

Adam related to us, saying: Shu‘ba related to us, saying: Sulayman al-Taymi related to us, saying: I heard Anas say: Two men sneezed in the Prophet’s presence, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He invoked mercy for one of them but not the other. The latter said: “You invoked mercy for this man but did not invoke it for me?” He replied: “This man praised Allah, while you did not praise Him.”
