حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ وَاصِلٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ عُرْفُطَةَ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَارْتَفَعَتْ رِيحٌ خَبِيثَةٌ مُنْتِنَةٌ، فَقَالَ: أَتَدْرُونَ مَا هَذِهِ؟ هَذِهِ رِيحُ الَّذِينَ يَغْتَابُونَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ.
Translation
Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when a foul, fetid wind arose. He said: “Do you know what this is? This is the wind of those who backbite the believers.”
