Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 48

Musa ibn Isma'il narrated to us. He said: Abu Awana narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik ibn Umayr, from Musa ibn Talha, from Abu Hurayra, who said: When the verse 'Warn your nearest relatives' was revealed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stood and called out: 'Children of Ka'b ibn Lu'ayy, save yourselves from the Fire! Children of Abd Manaf, save yourselves from the Fire! Children of Hashim, save yourselves from the Fire! Children of Abd al-Muttalib, save yourselves from the Fire! Fatima, daughter of Muhammad, save yourself from the Fire, for I have no power to avail you in anything before Allah. You do, however, have a kinship tie with me, and I will keep it moist with its moisture.'

The Arabic uses an idiom about moistening/maintaining a kinship tie; the English witness paraphrases this as 'I will maintain the ties'.
Should the English use the idiomatic sense or preserve the vivid image?
