Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 68

Muhammad ibn Kathir narrated to us, saying: Sufyan informed us, from al-A‘mash, al-Hasan ibn ‘Amr, and Fitr, from Mujahid, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amr. Sufyan said: Al-A‘mash did not attribute it to the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, while al-Hasan and Fitr attributed it from the Prophet, who said: “The one who maintains ties is not the one who merely reciprocates; rather, the one who maintains ties is the one who, when his kinship ties are severed, maintains them.”

The source explicitly preserves divergent attribution within the report; translating the rest as a single unqualified prophetic statement could obscure this difference.
Should the whole quotation remain typographically nested under the report, or should the divergent attribution be emphasized in editorial presentation?
