Muhammad ibn ‘Imran ibn Abi Layla narrated to us, saying: Ayyub ibn Jabir al-Hanafi narrated to us, from Adam ibn ‘Ali, from Ibn ‘Umar: “Whatever a man spends on himself and his family, seeking reward for it, Allah Most High will reward him for it. Begin with those whom you support. If there is any surplus, then give to the nearest relative, and then the next nearest; and if there is surplus, then give.”
