حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ كَعْبٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: إِنَّ الرَّحِمَ شُجْنَةٌ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ، تَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ، إِنِّي ظُلِمْتُ، يَا رَبِّ، إِنِّي قُطِعْتُ، يَا رَبِّ، إِنِّي إِنِّي، يَا رَبِّ، يَا رَبِّ. فَيُجِيبُهَا: أَلاَ تَرْضَيْنَ أَنْ أَقْطَعَ مَنْ قَطَعَكِ، وَأَصِلَ مَنْ وَصَلَكِ؟.

Hajjaj ibn Minhal narrated to us, saying: Shu‘bah narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar informed me, saying: I heard Muhammad ibn Ka‘b, that he heard Abu Hurayrah relate from the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: “Kinship is a branch from al-Rahman. It says, ‘My Lord, I have been wronged! My Lord, I have been severed! My Lord, I, I! My Lord, my Lord!’ He answers it: ‘Are you not content that I sever whoever severs you and maintain connection with whoever maintains connection with you?’”
