حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ يَقُولُ: قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: أَرِقَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَقَالَ: لَيْتَ رَجُلاً صَالِحًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِي يَجِيئُنِي فَيَحْرُسَنِي اللَّيْلَةَ، إِذْ سَمِعْنَا صَوْتَ السِّلاَحِ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: سَعْدٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، جِئْتُ أَحْرُسُكَ، فَنَامَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى سَمِعْنَا غَطِيطَهُ.

Khalid ibn Makhlad related to us, saying: Sulayman ibn Bilal related to us, saying: Yahya ibn Sa‘id related to us, saying: I heard ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amir ibn Rabi‘a say that ‘A’isha said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was unable to sleep one night and said: “If only a righteous man among my Companions would come and guard me tonight!” Then we heard the sound of weapons. He said: “Who is that?” He replied: “It is Sa‘d, Messenger of Allah. I have come to guard you.” The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, slept until we heard him snoring.
