Adam related to us, saying: Shu‘ba related to us, from Qatada, from Mutarrif ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al-Shikhkhir, who said: I accompanied ‘Imran ibn Husayn to Basra. Not a day passed without his reciting poetry to us. He said: “In indirect expressions there is ample room to avoid lying.”

مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ
The Arabic names him Mutarrif ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al-Shikhkhir; the witness substitutes ‘Imran for his father.
Should the narrator’s name be corrected in the English witness?
