Translation

‘Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us; al-Thawri informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from ‘Amr ibn Maymun, who said: I heard ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, say: ‘The people of the pre-Islamic period would not depart from Jam‘ until they saw the sun over Thabir. They used to say, “Shine, Thabir, so we may hurry away.” But the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, departed before sunrise.’
