Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ.
Translation
‘Uthman ibn ‘Umar narrated to us; Yunus informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyab, that ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘The deceased is punished because of his family’s weeping over him.’
