Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَرِثُ الْوَلَاءَ مَنْ وَرِثَ الْمَالَ مِنْ وَالِدٍ أَوْ وَلَدٍ.
Translation
‘Abd Allah ibn Zayd narrated to us; Ibn Lahi‘ah informed us, from ‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: ‘The wala’ is inherited by whoever inherits the wealth from a parent or child.’
