Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسِ بْنِ الْحَدَثَانِ، قَالَ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ فَقُلْتُ لَكُمَا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ.
Translation
‘Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us; Ma‘mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Malik ibn Aws ibn al-Hadathan, who said: ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, sent for me.’ He mentioned the report and said: ‘I told the two of you: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “We are not inherited from; what we leave is charity.”’
