Musnad Ahmad 342
‘Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us; he said: Hushaym informed me, from al-Hajjaj ibn Artah, from al-Hakam ibn ‘Utaybah, from ‘Umarah, from Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa: ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: It is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him—meaning tamattu‘—but I fear that they will have marital relations with their wives beneath the arak trees, then go forth with them as pilgrims.’
