Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us; Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Qatadah, who said: I heard Rufay‘—Abu al-‘Aliyah—relate from Ibn ‘Abbas: ‘Men related to me’—Shu‘bah said, ‘I think he said, “from among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him”’—and the one I most admired among them was ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade prayer at two times: after the afternoon prayer until the sun sets, and after the dawn prayer until the sun rises.’
