Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us; Sa‘id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from al-Sha‘bi, from Suwayd ibn Ghafalah, that ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, delivered a sermon to the people at al-Jabiyah and said: ‘The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade wearing silk except for the width of two, three, or four fingers.’ He gestured with his palm.
