Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ.
Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us; Sa‘id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyab, from Ibn ‘Umar, from ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘The deceased is punished in his grave because of the wailing over him.’
