Translation

‘Attab—meaning Ibn Ziyad—narrated to us; ‘Abd Allah—meaning Ibn al-Mubarak—informed us; Yunus informed us, from al-Zuhri, from al-Sa’ib ibn Yazid and ‘Ubayd Allah ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Utbah, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Abd, from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. ‘Abd Allah said: My father traced it back to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: ‘Whoever misses some of his regular portion—or, he said, his nightly share—and recites it between the dawn prayer and noon, it is as though he recited it during the night.’
