Sahih al-Bukhari 5549
Ṣadaqah narrated to us: Ibn ʿUlayyah informed us, from Ayyūb, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said: On the Day of Sacrifice, the Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever slaughtered before the prayer must slaughter again.” A man stood up and said, “Messenger of God, this is a day on which people desire meat”—and he mentioned his neighbors—“and I have a young sheep that is better than two meaty sheep.” He granted him an allowance for that. I do not know whether the allowance was extended to anyone besides him. Then the Prophet ﷺ turned to two rams and slaughtered them, and the people went to a small flock and divided it—or, he said, cut it into portions.
