Sahih al-Bukhari 5556

Musaddad narrated to us: Khālid ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: Muṭarrif narrated to us, from ʿĀmir, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib (may God be pleased with them both), who said: “A maternal uncle of mine named Abū Burdah offered a sacrifice before the prayer. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: ‘Your sheep is only meat.’ He said, ‘Messenger of God, I have a domesticated young goat.’ He said: ‘Slaughter it, but it will not suffice for anyone other than you.’ Then he said: ‘Whoever slaughters before the prayer slaughters only for himself. Whoever slaughters after the prayer has completed his rite and followed the Sunnah of the Muslims.’”

ʿUbaydah corroborated it from al-Shaʿbī and Ibrāhīm. Wakīʿ corroborated it from Ḥurayth, from al-Shaʿbī. ʿĀṣim and Dāwūd reported from al-Shaʿbī: “I have a milk-fed young she-goat.” Zubayd and Firās reported from al-Shaʿbī: “I have a jadhaʿah.”

Abū al-Aḥwaṣ said: Manṣūr narrated to us: “A young she-goat, a jadhaʿah.” Ibn ʿAwn said: “A young she-goat, a jadhaʿah—a milk-fed young she-goat.”
