Muhammad bin ‘Abdullah bin Haushab narrated to us: ‘Abd al-Wahhab narrated to us: Humayd narrated to us, from Anas, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Banu Salima, do you not hope for reward for your footsteps?’ Mujahid explained the verse, ‘We record what they have sent ahead and their traces,’ saying: ‘Their footsteps.’ Ibn Abi Maryam said: Yahya bin Ayyub informed us: Humayd narrated to me: Anas narrated to me that Banu Salima wanted to move from their homes to live closer to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah disliked leaving Medina vacant, so he said, ‘Do you not hope for reward for your footsteps?’ Mujahid said: ‘Their traces are their footsteps made on the ground as they walk.’
