‘Abd al-‘Aziz bin ‘Abdullah narrated to us: Ibrahim bin Sa‘d narrated to us, from his father, from Hafs bin ‘Asim, from ‘Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaina, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man. ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to me: Bahz bin Asad narrated to us: Shu‘ba narrated to us: Sa‘d bin Ibrahim informed me: I heard Hafs bin ‘Asim say: I heard a man from the Azd, called Malik bin Buhaina, say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man praying two rak‘ahs after the prayer had been commenced. When the Messenger of Allah finished, people gathered around him, and he said to the man, ‘Are you praying the dawn prayer as four rak‘ahs? Are you praying the dawn prayer as four?’ Ghundar and Mu‘adh also transmitted it from Shu‘ba, from Malik. Ibn Ishaq reported it from Sa‘d, from Hafs, from ‘Abdullah bin Buhaina. Hammad said: Sa‘d informed us, from Hafs, from Malik.
