حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ صِلَةَ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لأَهْلِ نَجْرَانَ " لأَبْعَثَنَّ ـ يَعْنِي عَلَيْكُمْ ـ يَعْنِي أَمِينًا ـ حَقَّ أَمِينٍ ". فَأَشْرَفَ أَصْحَابُهُ، فَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ رضى الله عنه.
Translation
Muslim ibn Ibrahim narrated to us: Shuʿba narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Sila, from Hudhayfa, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Prophet said to the people of Najran, “I will certainly send someone—meaning, over you—someone truly trustworthy.” His Companions craned their necks, and he sent Abu ʿUbayda, may Allah be pleased with him.
