Translation
Narrated Abu Huraira

I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying "From among my followers, a group (o 70,000) will enter Paradise without being asked for their accounts, Their faces will be shining like the moon." 'Ukasha bin Muhsin Al-Asadi got up, lifting his covering sheet and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) Invoke Allah for me that He may include me with them." The Prophet (ﷺ) said! "O Allah! Make him from them." Then another man from Al-Ansar got up and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Invoke Allah for me that He may include me with them." On that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "'Ukasha has anticipated you."

Hadith Commentary: The Seventy Thousand Who Enter Paradise Without Reckoning

This blessed narration from Sahih al-Bukhari (5811) describes a unique group among the Ummah who will be granted Paradise without undergoing the fearful questioning and accounting on the Day of Judgment. Their faces will radiate with the luminous beauty of the full moon, indicating their purity and exalted status.

The Nature of This Special Group

Scholars explain these seventy thousand are those who completely abstained from seeking ruqya (incantations), believing fully in divine decree (qadar), and avoiding cauterization for healing - placing absolute trust in Allah alone. They represent the pinnacle of tawakkul (reliance upon Allah).

Their entry without hisab (reckoning) demonstrates Allah's boundless mercy and indicates their deeds were performed with utmost sincerity, free from ostentation and spiritual defects that would normally require accounting.

The Wisdom in 'Ukasha's Precedence

When 'Ukasha (may Allah be pleased with him) immediately requested inclusion, the Prophet (ﷺ) supplicated for him. When another companion made the same request later, the Prophet informed him that 'Ukasha had preceded him.

This teaches the virtue of hastening to good deeds and the importance of seizing opportunities for divine blessings. It also shows that while the number is fixed, the specific individuals may not be predetermined, allowing space for divine mercy through supplication.

Spiritual Lessons for the Seeker

This hadith encourages believers to cultivate complete reliance on Allah, purify intentions, and avoid practices that indicate weakness in faith. It reminds us of the importance of making sincere du'a and hastening toward righteous actions.

Though we may not be among these seventy thousand specifically, we should strive to emulate their qualities of perfect tawakkul and sincere devotion, hoping for Allah's mercy to encompass us through other means.
