Sahih al-Bukhari 5593

ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us, from Sulaymān ibn Abī Muslim al-Aḥwal, from Mujāhid, from Abū ʿIyāḍ, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr (may God be pleased with them both), who said: “When the Prophet ﷺ forbade water skins, it was said to him, ‘Not everyone can find a water skin.’ So he granted them permission to use earthenware jars, provided they were not coated with pitch.”
