حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَشْتَرِيَ، بَرِيرَةَ فَاشْتَرَطُوا عَلَيْهَا الْوَلاَءَ، فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " اشْتَرِيهَا إِنَّمَا الْوَلاَءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ ".
Translation
Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us; Shubah narrated to us, from al-Hakam, from Ibrahim, from al-Aswad, from Aishah, who wanted to buy Barirah. The sellers stipulated that the right of wala would belong to them. She mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: Buy her. The right of wala belongs only to the one who frees the slave.
