Sahih al-Bukhari 5376

ʿAli ibn ʿAbdullah informed us: Sufyan informed us: al-Walid ibn Kathir told me that he heard Wahb ibn Kaysan, who heard ʿUmar ibn Abi Salamah say: “When I was a boy under the care of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, my hand used to move around the serving dish. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me, ‘Boy, mention the name of God, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is nearest to you.’ That has remained my way of eating ever since.”
