Sahih al-Bukhari 2612

ʿAbdullah ibn Maslama narrated to us, from Malik, from Nafiʿ, from ʿAbdullah ibn ʿUmar, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said: ʿUmar ibn al-Khattab saw a striped silk garment by the mosque door and said: “Messenger of Allah, if only you would buy it and wear it on Friday and when delegations come!” He said: “Only one who has no share in the Hereafter wears it.” Later, some garments arrived and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave ʿUmar one. ʿUmar said: “You gave this to me to wear, though you said what you said about the garment of ʿUtarid.” He said: “I did not give it to you to wear.” So ʿUmar gave it to a polytheist brother of his in Mecca.
