Translation

Musaddad narrated to us: Abd al-Warith narrated to us, from Abu al-Tayyah, from Anas, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had the best character of all people. I had a young brother called Abu Umayr—I think he had been weaned. Whenever the Prophet came, he would say, ‘Abu Umayr, what happened to the little sparrow?’ It was a small bird he used to play with. Sometimes the Prophet was present when prayer time came while he was in our house. He would ask for the mat beneath him to be swept and sprinkled with water, then he would stand, and we would stand behind him, and he would lead us in prayer.
