Sahih al-Bukhari 6215
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ بِتُّ فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ وَالنَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عِنْدَهَا، فَلَمَّا كَانَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الآخِرُ أَوْ بَعْضُهُ قَعَدَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَقَرَأَ {إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلاَفِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لآيَاتٍ لأُولِي الأَلْبَابِ}.
Ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Jafar narrated to us: Sharik informed me, from Kurayb, from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said: I spent the night in the house of Maymunah, where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was staying with her. During the last third of the night, or part of it, he sat up, looked at the sky, and recited: Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for people of understanding.
