Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us: Shubah narrated to us, from al-Ashath ibn Sulaym, who said: I heard Muawiyah ibn Suwayd ibn Muqarrin, from al-Bara, may Allah be pleased with him, say: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded us to do seven things and forbade us from seven. He commanded us to visit the sick, follow funeral processions, invoke mercy for the sneezer, accept invitations, return greetings of peace, help the oppressed, and fulfill an oath made in our name. He forbade us from wearing gold rings—or he said gold bands—and from wearing silk, brocade, fine silk, and silk-covered saddles.
