We were sitting with `Abdullah bin `Amr who was narrating to us (Hadith): He said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was neither a Fahish nor a Mutafahhish, and he used to say, 'The best among you are the best in character (having good manners).'"

Explanation of Terms
Fahish: One who speaks or acts in an obscene, vulgar, or foul manner, using explicit and offensive language.
Mutafahhish: One who seeks out or promotes obscenity, encourages vulgar speech in others, or makes foul speech appear acceptable.
Scholarly Commentary
The Prophet (ﷺ) was completely pure in his speech and conduct, avoiding all forms of vulgarity and obscenity. His noble character was such that he never uttered foul words nor encouraged others to do so.
The statement "The best among you are the best in character" establishes that true excellence in Islam is measured by moral conduct and beautiful manners, not by lineage, wealth, or physical appearance.
