ʿAbdān narrated to us, saying: My father informed me, from Shuʿbah, from Saʿīd ibn Masrūq, from ʿAbāyah ibn Rāfiʿ, from his grandfather, who said: “Messenger of God, we have no knives.” He said: “Whatever makes the blood flow, with God’s name mentioned over it, eat—except a fingernail or a tooth. As for the fingernail, it is the knife of the Abyssinians; as for the tooth, it is a bone.” A camel bolted, and he stopped it. He said: “These camels can become as wild as wild beasts. If one of them gets the better of you, deal with it in this way.”
