Sahih al-Bukhari
Sahih al-Bukhari 2425
Ishaq narrated to us: Wahb ibn Jarir ibn Hazim narrated to us: Shu'ba informed us, from al-A'mash, from Abu al-Duha, from Masruq, from Khabbab, who said: I was a metalworker in the pre-Islamic era, and al-As ibn Wa'il owed me some dirhams. I went to demand repayment. He said, ‘I will not repay you until you disbelieve in Muhammad.’ I said, ‘By Allah, I will never disbelieve in Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) until Allah causes you to die and then raises you again.’ He said, ‘Leave me until I die and am raised; then I will be given wealth and children, and I will repay you.’ Then this verse was revealed: ‘Have you seen the one who disbelieved in Our signs and said, “I will surely be given wealth and children”?’ (Qur'an 19:77).
