“Cut off the hand of the thief, male or female…”
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَقَطَعَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي مِجَنٍّ ثَمَنُهُ ثَلاَثَةُ دَرَاهِمَ.
Translation
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar
The Prophet (ﷺ) cut off the hand of a thief for stealing a shield that was worth three Dirhams.
