Sahih al-Bukhari 1409
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " لاَ حَسَدَ إِلاَّ فِي اثْنَتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ مَالاً فَسَلَّطَهُ عَلَى هَلَكَتِهِ فِي الْحَقِّ، وَرَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ حِكْمَةً فَهْوَ يَقْضِي بِهَا وَيُعَلِّمُهَا ".
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna related to us: Yahya related to us, from Ismaʿil, who said: Qays related to me, from Ibn Masʿud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, ‘There is no envy except in two cases: a person to whom Allah has given wealth and empowered to spend it for what is right, and a person to whom Allah has given wisdom, by which he judges and which he teaches.’
