"...And the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muḥammad pbuh to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). And if they see a sign, they turn away..." (V.54:1,2) Sahih al-Bukhari 4866

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي بَكْرٌ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ فِي زَمَانِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Translation
Narrated Ibn `Abbas
The moon was cleft asunder during the lifetime of the Prophet.
