Sahih al-Bukhari 4884
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَرَّقَ نَخْلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَقَطَعَ، وَهْىَ الْبُوَيْرَةُ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً عَلَى أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَلِيُخْزِيَ الْفَاسِقِينَ}
Qutayba related to us: Layth related to us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) burned and cut down the palm trees of Banu al-Nadir—the trees of al-Buwayra. Then Allah Most High revealed: 'Whatever palm trees you cut down, or left standing upon their roots, it was by Allah’s permission, so that He might disgrace the defiantly disobedient' (Quran 59:5).
