حَدَّثَنِي حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنٌ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، وَعَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ أَقْبَلَتْ عِيرٌ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَنَحْنُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَثَارَ النَّاسُ إِلاَّ اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلاً فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ ‏‏{‏وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا‏}‏

Translation

Hafs ibn Umar related to me: Khalid ibn Abdullah related to us: Husayn related to us, from Salim ibn Abi al-Jad and from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: A caravan arrived on Friday while we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the people rushed off, leaving only twelve men. Then Allah revealed: 'When they see a trade or amusement, they rush off toward it' (Quran 62:11).
