Sahih al-Bukhari 4901

Adam ibn Abi Iyas related to us: Israil related to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Zayd ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I was with my uncle and heard Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul say: Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they disperse. He also said: If we return to Medina, the more honored will surely expel the more humiliated. I told my uncle, and my uncle told the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Messenger sent for Abdullah ibn Ubayy and his companions. They swore that they had not said it, so the Messenger of Allah believed them and declared me a liar. I was overcome by a distress unlike any I had felt, and sat in my house. Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: 'When the hypocrites come to you...' up to His words, 'They are the ones who say: Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah...' and up to His words, 'The more honored will surely expel the more humiliated.' The Messenger of Allah sent for me, recited it to me, and said: 'Allah has indeed confirmed you.'
