حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَابِسٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ قَالَ كُنَّا نَرْفَعُ الْخَشَبَ بِقَصَرٍ ثَلاَثَةَ أَذْرُعٍ أَوْ أَقَلَّ، فَنَرْفَعُهُ لِلشِّتَاءِ فَنُسَمِّيهِ الْقَصَرَ.
Translation
Muhammad ibn Kathir informed us; Sufyan informed us; Abd al-Rahman ibn Abis related to us, saying: I heard Ibn Abbas, concerning the verse, ‘Indeed, it throws sparks like a fortress,’ say: We used to raise pieces of wood three cubits long or shorter. We would lift them for winter, and we called them qasr.
