Abdullah ibn Muhammad related to me; Abd al-Razzaq informed us; Ma‘mar informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama and Ibn al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet, who said: “The merit of congregational prayer over an individual prayer is twenty-five degrees. The angels of the night and the angels of the day meet at the dawn prayer.” Abu Hurayra said: Recite, if you wish, “And the recitation at dawn—for the recitation at dawn is witnessed” (Qur’an 17:78).
