Times of the Prayers - Sahih al-Bukhari 574

My father said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Whoever prays the two cool prayers (`Asr and Fajr) will go to Paradise.'"

Commentary on the Hadith

This noble hadith from Sahih al-Bukhari highlights the immense virtue of consistently performing the Fajr and Asr prayers. The term "cool prayers" refers to Fajr, prayed during the coolness of dawn, and Asr, prayed during the cooler part of the afternoon.

The scholars explain that these two prayers are particularly emphasized because they occur at times when people are usually preoccupied - Fajr during sleep and Asr during daily activities. Their consistent observance demonstrates strong faith and discipline.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani in Fath al-Bari comments that the promise of Paradise for praying these two prayers indicates their great importance in Islam and serves as motivation for Muslims to be particularly vigilant about them.
