Sahih al-Bukhari 587
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حُمْرَانَ بْنَ أَبَانَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ لَتُصَلُّونَ صَلاَةً، لَقَدْ صَحِبْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَمَا رَأَيْنَاهُ يُصَلِّيهَا، وَلَقَدْ نَهَى عَنْهُمَا، يَعْنِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ.
Muhammad bin Aban narrated to us: Ghundar narrated to us: Shu‘ba narrated to us, from Abu al-Tayyah, who said: I heard Humran bin Aban relate from Mu‘awiya, who said: ‘You are performing a prayer. We accompanied the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and never saw him perform it; indeed, he forbade these two,’ meaning the two rak‘ahs after the afternoon prayer.
